Area rivers swelling

Heavy rainfall over the past week has caused area rivers to swell.

Meteorologist with the National Weather Service Sarah Atkins says that flash flooding is a concern with all of the rain.

"Looking at the 102 River in Maryville, it doesn't look like it's going to be too prolonged.  In fact, I think it's going to stay out of flooding, but it's certainly rising at least a little bit up to about 15.2 feet in Maryville.  If we take a look at the Missouri River in St. Joe, it looks like it's going to keep us in that moderate flooding.  So we're going to be ranging from 23.35 feet and it will be cresting at this time at 25.3 feet for the St. Joe area.  It'll slowly come down.  But it looks like it's going to take about a week or so.  If we take a look at the Grand River, for the Chillicothe area, they're also in moderate flooding.  They're at about 31.24 feet at this time."
